Audiology

Sinead Ryan, Audiologist provides hearing tests to determine whether someone can hear within the normal range, and if not, which portions of hearing (high, middle, or low frequencies) are affected and to what degree. If a hearing loss is detected advice will be offered to the patient as to what options (e.g. hearing aids, cochlear implants, surgery, appropriate medical referrals) may be of assistance.

Cardiology

Aut Even Hospital offers a range of Cardiology services including outpatient consultations, echocardiography, stress testing and arrhythmia monitoring with prompt onward access to more sophisticated invasive and non-invasive cardiac testing where required.

Dermatology

The Dermatologists working at Aut Even Hospital reviews and treats a wide range of skin conditions for both in patients and out patients. We have recently acquired new diagnostic equipment allowing us to do Mole Mapping to aid early detection of pre cancerous skin cells. Positive results can be dealt with swiftly as the dermatologist also has theatre sessions here.

Diagnostic Imaging

The diagnostic imaging centre at Aut Even offers a comprehensive range of imaging procedures for out-patients and in-patients, including MRI, Ultrasound, Interventional Radiology, Mammography, Dexa scanning for bone mineral density/osteoporosis assessment, Barium Studies, IVP and general radiography procedures.

We are a Vhi and Quinn Healthcare Direct Billing Centre for MRI scans.

Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT)

There are currently three ENT surgeons working at Aut Even Hospital whose surgical procedures include common operations e.g. removal of tonsils and adenoids and the insertion of Grommets. Many children are cared for under this service.  Other surgical procedures include septoplasties. ENT consultants also review medical patients on the ward as requested.

Gastroenterology

Dr. A.R. Aftab, Consultant Gastroenterologist has commenced a rapid access endoscopy service for G.P’s. A patient referred by G.P. for OGD and/or colonoscopy (gastric and bowel investigations)  will be offered an appointment within two weeks form date of referral for assessment and procedure being carried out on the same day if necessary. Dr. Aftab will discharge patients referred to this service back to their G.P. for on-going management. Appointments can be booked through Dr. Aftab.

General Medicine

The 25 bed Medical Unit at Aut Even provides in-patient assessment and treatment for patients with the full range of medical conditions in fully en suite accommodation.

General Surgery

There are currently seven General Surgeons operating at Aut Even in our newly refurbished clean air theatres offering a wide range of surgical interventions and procedures.

Gynaecology

Aut Even provides a comprehensive Gynaecology service for a large number of conditions. Patients may receive treatment for conditions including fertility problems, vaginal prolapse, endemetriosis, fibroids, polycystic ovarian syndrome, ovarian cysts and treatment for ovarian cancer. Other gynaecological procedures carried out include hysterectomy, colposcopy, tubal ligation and pelvic floor repair.

There is a very short wait for out-patient appointments, short theatre waiting lists and smear test results are available within one week.

Nutrition and Dietetics

The department of Nutrition and Dietetics provide dietary advice for a wide range of conditions. Patients referred are individually assessed and will receive appropriate individualised dietary advice. Patients are advised on conditions such as diabetes, coeliac disease, crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, malnutrition, gastrointestinal disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, obesity and cardiovascular disorders. We provide both an inpatient and outpatient service.

Neurology

Our Neurologist reviews and manages a wide range of neurological conditions for both inpatients and out patients, performing a lumbar puncture procedure if necessary along with MRI and x-ray to enhance diagnosis and commence relevant treatment.

Ophthalmology

Aut Even Hospital provides comprehensive Eye Care offering services for patients including

Orthopaedics

There are two Orthopaedic Surgeons working at Aut Even hospital who perform a range of operations including ACL reconstruction requiring in patient admission. Arthroscopies are performed as day cases. Hip and knee replacements will be commencing late 2008.

The respiratory department at Aut Even offers assessment, diagnosis and treatment for the broad spectrum of respiratory diseases including asthma, bronchitis, chronic cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, fatigue, snoring, lung cancer & farmers lung.

A full range of diagnostic testing is available to include spirometry, bronchial challenge tests, bronchoscopy, polysomnography (sleep studies) and allergy testing.
